Basketball Recap: Killian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

South Miami came into Tuesday's game looking for another win against Killian, but Derico Taylor wouldn't allow it. The Killian Cougars pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over the South Miami Cobras on Tuesday thanks in part to Taylor, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Caled, who posted six points and eight rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, South Miami still got an impressive performance from Victor Dominguez, who put up 17 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan Torres, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Killian moved to 5-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for South Miami, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Killian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Goleman at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for South Miami, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-61 defeat against TERRA Environmental on the 19th.
