Vernon and Bay are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Vernon has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vernon fell victim to Freeport and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 17-0. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bay). They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over Graceville on Friday. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

McKenna Case was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Breahna Peace, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bay's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6. As for Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Vernon took their victory against Bay in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-5 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
