Recap: Gillespie Miners vs. Pana Panthers
The Gillespie Miners stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 54-20 win over Pana. 54 seems to be a good number for Gillespie as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Despite the defeat, Pana saw an underclassman step up: Delaney Hackler scored six points.
Gillespie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. As for Pana, they dropped their record down to 5-26 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Gillespie will take on Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Gillespie is ranked 155th). As for Pana, they will head out on the road to challenge Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday.
