Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Cardinals vs. Clear Lake Warriors

Spring Valley lost against Clear Lake back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell 3-1 to the Warriors.

Spring Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16.

Katie Matthys paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 15 kills. Matthys got some help from Addison Nelson and her 39 assists. Riley Zimmerman and Kemri Schlegel kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Clear Lake can attribute much of their success to Ayla Monson, who had 24 assists and seven digs. Monson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Spring Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Clear Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Spring Valley has already played their next matchup (against Elmwood/Plum City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Clear Lake, they will square off against Shell Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
