The Hudson Falls Tigers will square off against the Ballston Spa Scotties at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hudson Falls has three straight wins, Ballston Spa has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hudson Falls' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Gloversville as they made off with a 21-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lainey Dunbar made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Dunbar was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hudson Falls let Lily Bump and Madison Sawyer run wild. Bump went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles, while Sawyer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave Bump a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caliegh Zahaba, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Hudson Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Ballston Spa didn't have quite enough to beat Niskayuna on Wednesday and fell 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Scotties have lost by just one run.
Ballston Spa saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Livia Wiltsie, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Wiltsie is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.
Hudson Falls' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Ballston Spa, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hudson Falls has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Ballston Spa struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hudson Falls suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Ballston Spa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
