Basketball Recap: Erie Extends Winning Streak to Three

Erie entered their tilt with Poudre on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They snuck past the Poudre Impalas with a 35-29 victory. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Impalas, too.

Erie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Greenlee led the charge by putting up 13 points and three blocks. Greenlee is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliet Slater, who posted 13 points.

Poudre lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hailey Brewster, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. What's more, Brewster also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jaqueline Forrest, who earned seven points.

Erie's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Poudre, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Erie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 34-33 loss against Mead on the 14th. As for Poudre, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-40 victory against Lutheran on the 14th.
