Football Recap: Cedar Park Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Cedar Park unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Harker Heights Knights on Friday, falling 52-26. The Timberwolves lost against the Knights in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 45-43 score last time.

Despite the loss, Cedar Park still got an impressive performance from David Cooper, who threw for 234 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown. 81 of Cooper's passing yards were hauled in by Brendan Baker, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Park is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Vandegrift at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harker Heights, they will venture away from home to square off against Manor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
