Baseball Recap: Columbus East Comes Up Short

Columbus East lost against Franklin Community back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Olympians fell just short of the Grizzly Cubs by a score of 3-2. The Olympians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Columbus East got a good showing from Landyn Jewell, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, J.D. Rotert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.

Columbus East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Franklin Community, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

When Columbus East and Franklin Community next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Olympians will challenge Valparaiso and their five-game winning streak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Franklin Community will try to stop Southport's three-game winning streak when they meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzly Cubs 4, the Cardinals 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
