Football Game Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears

Surry Central hasn't had much luck against Mount Airy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Granite Bears at 7:00 p.m. Surry Central has given up an average of 40.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Surry Central is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against North Surry on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Golden Eagles took a blow against the Greyhounds, falling 42-15. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-0 victory over the Falcons. The Granite Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 34 points or more this season.

Mount Airy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Surry Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Surry Central was taken down by Mount Airy 56-7 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Granite Bears' Taeshon Martin, who rushed for 240 yards and four TDs on only 11 carries.
