Preview: South Davidson Wildcats vs. North Stanly Comets
South Davidson is 0-10 against North Stanly since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Davidson Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the North Stanly Comets at 7:30 p.m. South Davidson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 399th, while North Stanly is ranked 166th).
Even though South Davidson has not done well against Southwestern Randolph recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. South Davidson came out on top in a nail-biter against Southwestern Randolph and snuck past 42-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Davidson.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Davidson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tanner Delattre, who scored 15 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Delattre has scored at least 25% of South Davidson's points. Tanner Walters was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Stanly waltzed into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Anson with points to spare, taking the game 93-75. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Davidson's victory bumped their season record to 2-3 while Southwestern Randolph's defeat dropped theirs to 0-4.
South Davidson took a serious blow against North Stanly when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 84-55. Can South Davidson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
