Mother Lode League recap November 5, 2013
Calaveras extended the longest winning streak in Mother Lode League this week by beating Summerville, 44-28. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Bret Harte fell to Argonaut 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacob Bailey threw for 55 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 16 yards in the defeat.
Mike Seawell provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Calaveras topped the Bears.
Seawell was a beast in the backfield as Jason Weatherby's team defeated Summerville.
Brice Farrell put up the best numbers through the air as Ben Watson's team fell to the Redskins.
The Bears' Farrell and JT McCready have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Farrell has thrown for 1,119 yards this season, while McCready has 19 catches for 396 yards. Seawell from Calaveras leads the league in rushing with 1,048 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Amador takes on the Mustangs. As it stands, the Buffaloes are in first, while Argonaut is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Amador takes on Rick Davis' team. Bill Baker's team has allowed 98 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 185. The Buffaloes allowed 6 points last week as they topped Linden.
The Redskins led Mother Lode League in scoring this week by notching 44 points on Summerville. Seawell ran for 241 yards and caught 1 pass for 55 yards during the win.
