Preview: American Fork Cavemen vs. Lone Peak Knights

American Fork is 0-10 against Lone Peak since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The American Fork Cavemen will look to defend their home court against the Lone Peak Knights at 6:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for American Fork: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lone Peak has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, American Fork came up short against Pleasant Grove and fell 56-48.

Meanwhile, Lone Peak stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They really took it to Skyridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 81-19 victory on the road. With Lone Peak ahead 42-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Lone Peak's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shawnee Nordstrom, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and two steals. Nordstrom has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Naia Tanuvasa was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals.

American Fork has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Lone Peak, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

American Fork might still be hurting after the 66-44 defeat they got from Lone Peak in their previous meeting back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point American Fork was down 34-13.
