Baseball Game Preview: Madelia Blackhawks vs. Martin County West Mavericks

Madelia is 8-2 against Martin County West since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blackhawks will challenge the Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Madelia is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Cleveland just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Clippers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blackhawks have suffered against the Clippers since April 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, Martin County West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman.

Martin County West saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerry Olson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Jacob Wilmes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Martin County West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Madelia, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-2.

Everything went Madelia's way against Martin County West in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Madelia made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
