Jacksboro Gets a Boost from Sams in 42-40 Loss

Starting off the list is Jacksboro's Luke Sams, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Sams rushed for 174 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Jacksboro's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1. Sams and Jacksboro will challenge Burkburnett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Hunter Jones Dazzles in Holliday Victory

Hunter Jones posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.

On the year, Jones has thrown 16 touchdowns while averaging 299.5 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.25 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 0.25 rushing yards.

Carson Rojas put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

Valley View is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. Rojas and Valley View are taking a road trip to take on Era at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ashtyn Berry Makes It Two for Holliday

Another Holliday player making an appearance on this list is Ashtyn Berry. His receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 110 receiving yards dating back to last season. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 64 yards.

This season, Berry has caught 7 touchdowns while averaging 142.5 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 70.75 receiving yards per game.
