League recap: Theye breaks off league-leading run for Fairbury

Tyler Theye of Fairbury ran for the longest rushing play in C1 District 6 this season against Fillmore Central last week. Theye's team defeated the Panthers as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 178 in all.

Sandy Creek and Syracuse played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Sandy Creek eventually emerging with a 12-7 victory.

Fairbury's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Edson threw for 45 and one touchdown and Alec Cromer had 35 yards receiving. Theye helped Fairbury's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.

Fairbury's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jeffs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Edson has thrown for 208 yards and one touchdown this season, while Dalton Griffin has four catches for 62 yards. Theye leads the league in rushing with 415 yards.

A big matchup in C1 District 6 this week will be when Rod Edson's team takes on the Cougars. As it stands, the Jeffs are in second, while Sandy Creek is in third.

Wilber-Clatonia took down Milford 17-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
