Softball Recap: South Summit Wins Going Away Against Millard

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grantsville, South Summit was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Millard Eagles 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Toshlyn Louder spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mariah Bowen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brinley Stapleton, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

South Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Summit's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Millard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Summit will take on Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Millard, they will face off against South Sevier at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will roll in looking for their 24th straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
