Football Recap: Murray County Takes a Loss

Murray County had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-2 to make it five. They came up short against the Union County Panthers, falling 27-7. The Indians lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-6 score last time.

Union County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 20, 2024 (when they won 21-0).

Bentley Rich had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 150 yards and two scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Those 150 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Murray County will take on rival North Murray at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Union County is set to face off against their familiar foe Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
