Softball Game Preview: Amphitheater Panthers vs. Rio Rico Hawks

Amphitheater is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Rio Rico a seven-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Amphitheater Panthers will host the Rio Rico Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Amphitheater is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Cholla on Thursday. They lost 19-2 to the Chargers.

Isabella Espinoza made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rio Rico's offense. They came up short against Sahuarita on Thursday, falling 10-0.

Rio Rico's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Amphitheater, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Amphitheater suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Rio Rico in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Amphitheater avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
