Football Recap: McCook Comes Up Short

McCook played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Waverly Vikings, falling 42-7. The Bison have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Trenton Raile threw for 59 yards on five of 19 attempts. Miles Pollmann was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.

Nathan Axmann was nothing short of spectacular for Waverly: he rushed for 126 yards and two TDs. Axmann showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards. Nathan Scholl was in the mix too, providing Waverly with one score.

Having lost for the first time this season, McCook fell to 2-1. As for Waverly, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

McCook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-3 victory against Crete on the 19th. As for Waverly, they have also already played their next contest, a 50-15 win against Elkhorn on the 18th.
