Basketball Recap: Canton Falls Despite Big Games from Talin Williams and Ben Fitch

Canton lost against Sayre back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Canton Warriors fell 46-33 to the Sayre Redskins.

Canton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Fitch, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards, and Talin Williams, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. That was a full 39.4% of Canton's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Sayre was led to victory by Hudson Trump and Nick Pellicano. Trump almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Pellicano dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Trump is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Ryan Ressler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Canton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Sayre, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

While Canton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
