Baseball Game Preview: West Oso Bears vs. Aransas Pass Panthers

The West Oso Bears will head out to face off against the Aransas Pass Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Oso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Friday, West Oso earned a 6-1 win over George West. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Julian Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of West Oso's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jaime Guerrero was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. West Oso is 5-2 when Guerrero posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Aransas Pass came up short against Mathis on Friday and fell 7-3. The Panthers have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

West Oso's record is now 10-8. As for Aransas Pass, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1.

Everything went West Oso's way against Aransas Pass in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as West Oso made off with a 16-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
