Basketball Recap: The Pilgrim Academy Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last five times The Pilgrim Academy and Atlantic Christian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 25-24 to the Atlantic Christian Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 26-23 defeat two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, The Pilgrim Academy had strong showings from Coretta Kruse, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points, and Moriah Parmer, who posted a point and 11 boards. That was a full 45.8% of The Pilgrim Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Kruse has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Atlantic Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caelyn Domsic, who had 12 points. The dominant performance also gave Domsic a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%).

The Pilgrim Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Atlantic Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-11-1.

The Pilgrim Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 31-27 victory against King's Christian on the 1st. As for Atlantic Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-29 win against Gloucester County Christian on the 1st.
