Soccer Recap: Gulf Shores Comes Up Short

Gulf Shores was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Guntersville Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Gulf Shores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Guntersville are ranked 32nd).

Gulf Shores' loss dropped their record down to 4-12-2. As for Guntersville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3-1 record this season.

Gulf Shores didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-1 draw against Northridge on the 29th. Guntersville has also already played their next contest (against Foley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
