Basketball Recap: West Falls Despite Big Games from Trez Hardeman and Treg Hardeman

If West was feeling good fresh off their 68-38 takedown of North last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Pioneers took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Titans. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 54-50.

West's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Treg Hardeman and Trez Hardeman. Treg posted 13 points and five rebounds, while Trez put up ten points. Christian Laws also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

South's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Howard, who earned seven points along with six boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Howard a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jamison Howard, who had ten points and six rebounds.

West has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. South moved to 4-16 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

West has already played their next game, a 78-50 loss against Washburn Rural on the 4th. As for South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-51 defeat against Northwest on the 4th.
