Cornerstone Christian is 0-4 against Delavan since May of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Cyclones will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Cornerstone Christian will be strutting in after a win while Delavan will be coming in after a loss.
Cornerstone Christian will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Ridgeview, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cyclones walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday.

Josh Kursell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Tom, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.
Meanwhile, Delavan didn't have quite enough to beat Brimfield on Thursday and fell 5-4. The Panthers have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Like Cornerstone Christian, Delavan also got a great game from a two-way player: Braden Arrenholz. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Arrenholz gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Kelton Nafziger was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Cornerstone Christian's record is now 4-11. As for Delavan, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cornerstone Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Delavan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cornerstone Christian might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Delavan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cyclones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
