Baseball Recap: Mooresville Takes a Loss

Mooresville was the 14-11 winner over West Iredell when they last played one another back in April of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Mooresville Blue Devils fell just short of the West Iredell Warriors by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by just one run.

Luke Modrak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Mooresville is 4-2 when Modrak posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Cole Harvey was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Mooresville and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for West Iredell, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Coming up, Mooresville will square off against Hickory Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mooresville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season. As for West Iredell, they will venture away from home to face off against Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
