Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Gorman Gaels vs. Coronado Cougars

The Bishop Gorman Gaels will face off against the Coronado Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Gorman will be strutting in after a victory while Coronado will be coming in after a loss.

Bishop Gorman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Desert Oasis, who was ranked sixth at the time (Bishop Gorman was ranked third). The Gaels blew past the Diamondbacks 16-8 on Friday. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Diamondbacks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Austin Arteaga was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Yatson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Coronado suffered their biggest defeat since April 3rd on Friday. They came up short against Arbor View, falling 15-1. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coronado saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.
