Basketball Game Preview: Crisp County Cougars vs. Wilcox County Patriots

Crisp County is 2-8 against Wilcox County since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Crisp County Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Wilcox County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Crisp County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Crisp County will bounce into Friday's game after beating Perry, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Crisp County took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging an 80-53 victory over Perry. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Zakariyya Dwight was his usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 32 points and 13 boards. Those 32 points gave him a new career-high. Cayden Daniels was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wilcox County was beaten by Fitzgerald 70-37 on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled against the Purple Hurricane recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Crisp County will have to contain Jackson Smith as he made an impact in Wilcox County's last game. He went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Crisp County's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Wilcox County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
