Preview: Jackson Red Devils vs. Pike County Pirates
Jackson is 9-1 against Pike County since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pike County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Jackson was able to grind out a solid victory over Mary Persons, taking the game 59-52. That looming 59-52 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Jackson yet this season.
Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Goodrum, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Goodrum has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jaden Roberts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Pike County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 85-52 defeat at the hands of Upson-Lee. Pike County has not had much luck with Upson-Lee recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Jackson's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15. As for Pike County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
