Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mount Union

Mount Union took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Juniata Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Saturday, sneaking past 11-9. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mount Union let Haley Atherton and Sydnee Harris run wild. Atherton went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Harris went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Isabella Yocum, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory got Mount Union back to even at 8-8. As for Juniata Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mount Union will take on Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Juniata Valley, they will square off against West Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
