Baseball Game Preview: Christ School Greenies vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets

The Christ School Greenies will take on the Hayesville Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Christ School turned things around against Greenville H on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 14-1 win. Considering the Greenies' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Hayesville waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Maroon Devils 12-2. 12 seems to be a good number for the Yellowjackets as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kendall Boyer was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Cade Caruso was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Michael Mauney was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Hayesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Hayesville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Christ School, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8.
