Softball Recap: Fairport Beats Jamesville-Dewitt for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Fairport had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams. Seven seems to be a good number for the Red Raiders as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Lucy Greco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alaina Nunez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Fairport pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Jamesville-DeWitt, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.

Looking ahead, Fairport is taking a road trip to challenge Rush-Henrietta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jamesville-DeWitt, they will venture away from home to square off against Webster Thomas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
