Basketball Game Preview: Santa Rita Eagles vs. St. Augustine Catholic Wolves

Santa Rita hasn't had much luck against St. Augustine Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Santa Rita Eagles will look to defend their home court against the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Santa Rita is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game back in December of 2024. They fell 33-21 to St. John Paul II Catholic.

Despite their defeat, Santa Rita saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jlynn Smith, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Samson, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Payson by a score of 48-40. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Augustine Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Santa Rita, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Santa Rita was taken down by St. Augustine Catholic 62-27 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of St. Augustine Catholic's Megan Callahan, who went 10 of 17 on her way to 24 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
