Basketball Recap: Niko Sosa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Durant over Spoto

Durant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spoto Spartans. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Durant lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Niko Sosa, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Steven Russell, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points.

Durant's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Spoto, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Durant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wharton at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spoto, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Robinson at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
