Basketball Recap: Mesquite Takes a Loss

Mesquite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 61-45 to the Waxahachie Indians.

Waxahachie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamarie Hardeman led the charge by going 5 for 8 on her way to 13 points along with five steals and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Hardeman a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Gibson, who went 5 of 7 en route to 15 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Mesquite now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Waxahachie, their win bumped their record up to an identical 12-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesquite will challenge DeSoto at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waxahachie, they will square off against Duncanville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Duncanville will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Waxahachie surely won't give up without a fight.
