Basketball Recap: Rolla Find Success

Rolla proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 28) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 66-65 victory over the Nixa Eagles. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 59-22 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rolla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariah Watkins led the charge by shooting 44% from the field to rack up 23 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Watkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Rylee Dodson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine assists.

The win (which was Rolla's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Nixa, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Rolla and Marshfield will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nixa has already played their next game (against Fayetteville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
