Softball Recap: Bertie Takes a Loss

Bertie had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-10 to make it six. They came up short against the Holmes Aces, falling 15-0. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Aces when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Holmes, their record now sits at 5-7. Considering they have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Holmes' part, Chloe Chappell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Chappell was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025.

While Bertie had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
