Basketball Game Preview: Oakridge Owls vs. St. Mark's Lions

Oakridge hasn't had much luck against St. Mark recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Oakridge Owls will take on the St. Mark's Lions at 7:30 p.m.

Oakridge is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. The game between them and St. Stephen's Episcopal didn't end well, with Oakridge falling 56-37.

Meanwhile, St. Mark's came tearing into Friday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-59 win over the Falcons. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Falcons are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for St. Mark's, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Oakridge lost to St. Mark's on the road by a decisive 55-39 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Oakridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
