Baseball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Lakeside Dragons

The Chardon Hilltoppers will take on the Lakeside Dragons in a tournament on Wednesday. Chardon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Chardon barely beat Bay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 8-1 victory on Saturday. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Justin Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dominic Sintic, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Pymatuning Valley, falling 12-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 27, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Anthony Wooten made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Chardon, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
