Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Atomsmashers vs. Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines

The Johnson Atomsmashers and the Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-16, which was the final score in Johnson's tilt against Clearwater on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Atomsmashers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 374th in Georgia, while the Tornadoes are ranked 162nd in Florida).

Meanwhile, Woodville-Tompkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Windsor Forest.

Johnson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Woodville-Tompkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Johnson suffered a grim 50-26 defeat to Woodville-Tompkins in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
