Mt. Shasta hadn't done well against Etna recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears won by a run and slipped past the Lions 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-9 on Friday.

Keikea Ferguson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Mt. Shasta secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Nick Mangrum, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

The victory got Mt. Shasta back to even at 10-10. As for Etna, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Mt. Shasta will venture away from home to face off against Modoc at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Etna, they will host Lost River at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Lions have won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Raiders won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
