Baseball Recap: Jessieville Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Murfreesboro, Jessieville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over the Cutter-Morning Star Eagles. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Justin Meredith and Levi Anderson made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Meredith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Anderson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Meredith scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Anderson scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Jessieville got a massive performance out of Tony Soileau, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Thomas Hodges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Jessieville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cutter-Morning Star, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Jessieville will be playing in front of their home fans against Fountain Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cutter-Morning Star, they will head out on the road to take on Dierks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cutter-Morning Star has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
