Dothan has won five straight games at home, while Wicksburg has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Wolves will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Dothan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Dothan will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Auburn, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Tigers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since March 6th.
The team relied heavily on Kinley German, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brantlee McCarthy, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Wicksburg put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Zion Chapel. The Panthers put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Chloe Joyner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
Wicksburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zion Chapel only posted an OBP of .111.
Wicksburg's victory bumped their record up to 28-13. As for Dothan, their win bumped their record up to 26-13.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dothan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Wicksburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dothan got the 'W' in their previous meeting two weeks ago against Wicksburg by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
