Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tanyon Bakker and Tony Bos Lead Demotte Christian to Victory

After losing to North Newton the last time they met, DeMotte Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The DeMotte Christian Knights strolled past the North Newton Spartans with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 50-32.

DeMotte Christian was led to victory by Tony Bos and Tanyon Bakker. Bos went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds, while Bakker went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and eight steals. Bos' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

North Newton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Adan Castleberry, who posted eight points and three steals. Those three steals gave Castleberry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Bartrom, who put up four points.

The victory got DeMotte Christian back to even at 2-2. As for North Newton, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

DeMotte Christian will host Hammond Academy of Science & Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Newton, they will venture away from home to face off against Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
