Softball Recap: Wakefield Continues Road Dominance on Monday

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Wakefield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Heritage Huskies. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won seven in a row.

Aniela Piscorik tossed a big game, pitching 8.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off ten hits.

At the plate, Maddy Lampman was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Holly Work was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Wakefield pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Coincidentally, Wakefield and Heritage will both be playing Knightdale the next time they take the field. The Huskies will host the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolverines will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
