Lennard has no trouble against Spoto

The Lennard Longhorns had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Spoto with a sharp 51-27 victory on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Lennard, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Lennard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amari Sampson led the charge by rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Fields , who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Another reason for the win was Lennard's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 7.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Dominic Smith and Elijah Darcueil who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.

Spoto's loss came despite strong showings from Nathan Richardson and Z'orey Cotton. Richardson threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while Cotton picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Lennard's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Spoto, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Lennard will head out on the road to face off against Armwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Armwood's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Lennard has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Spoto will take on Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Freedom comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
