Volleyball Recap: Layton Comes Up Short

Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Davis Darts. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Darts earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

While Layton was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-22.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Davis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kate Donigan, who had 16 assists and five digs. Zoey Walsh also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Davis, their victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Layton will take on rival Syracuse at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Davis is set to square off against their familiar foe Weber at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
