Basketball Game Preview: Maquoketa Valley Wildcats vs. Starmont Stars

Maquoketa Valley is 10-0 against Starmont since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Maquoketa Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Starmont Stars at 7:00 p.m. Maquoketa Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Starmont likes a good challenge.

Maquoketa Valley will head out to face Starmont after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Maquoketa Valley took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alburnett.

Meanwhile, Starmont hadn't done well against East Buchanan recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Starmont took down East Buchanan 67-48.

Starmont is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Maquoketa Valley, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Everything came up roses for Maquoketa Valley against Starmont in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maquoketa Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
