Basketball Recap: Durango Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Centennial

On Friday, Durango faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Durango Trailblazers were beaten by the Centennial Bulldogs 82-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trailblazers have suffered since January 10, 2024.

Despite the loss, Durango still got an impressive performance from Elijah Outlaw-Mcdaniels, who went 9 of 11 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Morrow, who posted seven points and four steals.

Durango has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durango will host Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Durango is facing Spring Valley at the right time seeing as Spring Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Gorman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Bishop Gorman likes a good challenge.
