Softball Recap: Master's Academy Has No Trouble Against Lyman

Master's Academy hadn't done well against Lyman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Reagan Peri made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karina Morales, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zoe Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Master's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Master's Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Lyman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Master's Academy will challenge Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lyman, they will face off against The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
